Joanne Milbury Cove Studio by the Sea
|
I left Brookline to work in Provincetown the
summer of 1999. Shortly after my arrival I
met the man that would become my
husband. We have lived in our tiny cottage
in the West End with our two beach cats
ever since. Born with the sun in Cancer, I
have always had an affinity with the sea.
My creativity is nourished with the energy
and opulent colors of the bay. I translate
the blues of the water, the greens of the
seaweed and the pinks and lavenders of
the morning sky into stones; iolite, azurite,
turquoise, blue quartz, peridot, jade,
amethyst and rhodonite. I link these stones
together with silver to resemble the
reflection of sunlight on the waves. I’ve
expanded my designs from jewels and silver
into fiber allowing me to experience the
interaction of a different form of texture
and color. The ebb and flow of the tide
constantly changes the place I now call
home. My life by the sea inspires growth in
my daily life as well as the interpretation
and actualization of my work.
