Deirdre began her jewelry career as a high school junior,
taking a basic silversmith class in 1976. Upon graduation,
she “stumbled” into an apprenticeship in Brewster, MA,
doing finish work, sales and craft shows. Leaving this
behind in the fall of 1979, she headed west on a road trip
that lasted nearly 20 years. From 1981 - 1992, she lived in
"Making jewelry is my passion and inspires great joy
throughout my life!"
Santa Fe, New Mexico and was fortunate to associate
with some of Santa Fe's finest artists by selling their work in
a downtown gallery. Two silversmiths in particular were
generous enough to answer questions and share
techniques. In 1991 she began to create again after
having let it go for 10 years. Deirdre’s work was sold in
galleries in California and New Mexico.
In 1992 with her 7 yr. old daughter in tow, she moved to
Montana and began a more serious path toward
creating her own business. While in MT her work was sold
in galleries there and in Jackson, Wyoming. Montana was
a good starting place, but the East coast art scene
seemed like a more logical place to pursue her goals.
Cape Cod has proven to be a muse. In the spring of
2000, Deirdre was accepted into The Artisan’s Guild of
Cape Cod and The Society for Cape Cod Craftsmen. The
response to her first craft show in August 2000 was
overwhelmingly positive; she currently does about 25
shows annually.
